\Joanna White, DMA, professor of flute at Central Michigan University and principal flutist of the Saginaw Bay and Midland Symphony Orchestras, performs and records with the Crescent Duo and Powers Woodwind Quintet – which can be heard on White Pine Music and Centaur Records. She has performed and presented at concerts, conferences and festivals of the National Flute Association, International Clarinet Association, International Double Reed Society, College Music Society, the Midwest Music Conference, and the Michigan Music Conference in twelve states and five countries. With degrees from the University of Southern California, Northwestern University, and the University of Michigan, she studied with Janet Woodhams, Patricia Garside, Roger Stevens, Walfrid Kujala, Judith Bentley, Clement Barone, Thomas Nyfenger, and Leone Buyse. White, a reviewer for The Flutist Quarterly and on the National Flute Association Performance Health Care Committee, has served as secretary on the NFA board and has written articles for publications such as The Flutist Quarterly, Flute Talk, Flute Journal, The Instrumentalist, and the National Association of Wind and Percussion Instructors Journal – most recently a Winter 2017 article and bibliography on musician's focal dystonia for The Flutist's Quarterly. She is also a published poet.
